Tiny Heart

Tiny Heart

Recently, I’ve had a few people mention to me that they LOVE my woodcarvings but that they are a bit outside of their budget. I’ve been thinking about how to offer some pieces on the cheap, while still making sure that 1) it’s fair pricing for the amount of time put into it 2) it’s something worth having 3) I don’t use wood for this purpose that I could be using on a bigger project.

I was mulling this over in my head the other day when an idea was born. We have a lot of wooden shipping pallets in the shop and we never use them – they’re what we get stuff shipped in on, internally we use plastic ones. (They’re stronger/easier to deal with) Most of the pallets are pretty beaten up. I took to one with a radial saw the other day and fed the wood through my planer. What do you know!!! Beautiful wood was hiding underneath all of that.

This is awesome! It’s wood that we otherwise throw away (or burn, actually). What a great way to re-use it for other things. The wood comes in a large variety of species too, so it’s kind of random what you get.

I’m going to be doing a series of Tiny Art. These are pieces that are about 3.5 inches tall and a half inch thick. They’re too thin for my normal hanging method, so I decided to do more recycling and use some cotton cord.

You can have your own charming little Tiny Heart Art – with gold, silver, black or grey. The choices are fairly limited as to finish – I’m making them light, medium or dark coloured wood. Because the species varies wildly from item to item, they take stains differently.

Or, you can have me pick something awesome. And you know it will be awesome.

$10! How’s that for a good deal!! Check out the details here.
